Located on Heidelberg Street in Detroit, the Heidelberg project is the creation of Tyree Guyton. Inspired by his Grandpa Sam who encouraged his artistic output, Tyree began painting and using recycled materials to make art out of the neighborhood. It began 26 years ago, and has caused quite the controversy. Some love the project and believe it promotes a positive message in the city, while others feel that the materials used are inviting pests into the neighborhood and that the art itself is an eyesore.
